Welcome to Jajakistan! In 2003, when Loïc Roure moved to the village of Lansac in the high and lonely foothills of the Pyrenees, he realised he was far, far away from everything. So he nicknamed his new home «Jajakistan». But he is one to always take the weather with him - i.e. good humour, music and a massive smile. So when you arrive in Jajakistan, you would think the place is blessed.
Loïc’s vineyards (roughly 10 ha) are planted with all the traditional varieties of the region, on Gneiss, Schiste & Granite, and he also has a beautiful syrah vineyard on limestone, even further away, closer to Corbières. He works organically, with homeopathic additions of plant preparations, and lots of heart, sweat & soul through manual plugging. The philosophy on winemaking here is to do everything possible to ensure an honest through-flow of the key and personal elements of what wine is, according to Loïc. That is, geology, grape and vigneron. The wines truly express the personality of the vigneron here, yet because we are talking about a vigneron with immense heart, freedom and honesty, this translates to pure honest wines. You can almost see Loïc’s cheeky grin and hear some funky music in each bottle.
